World Happiness Report: Study Says Denmark Is World's Happiest Country

Ever wondered which country's citizens are the most happiest ? And on what basis can such report be publish ?

Well, here is the World Happiness Report which first published in the year 2012. For the second time in 2013, third time in 2015 and now in 2016. This report was released today in Rome in advance of UN World Happiness Day, March 20. This report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness. As per the report, the top 5 happiest countries are all the Scandinavian. Denmark reclaimed the top honors in the World Happiness Report, booting Switzerland from the No. 1 spot.

The Director of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research told the CNN, "In Norway, it’s quite common for people to paint each other’s houses even though they can all afford to pay to have their houses painted. They go out of their way to help each other and it becomes a social event and those events are enormously supportive of well-being"

The United States didn’t make it into the top 10, but did jump two spots up from last year to No. 13, trailing behind its neighbor Canada, which dropped one spot to No. 6.

There is no scientific measurement for happiness, so the report relies on a variety of indicators including per-capita gross domestic product, life expectancy, freedom to make life choices and generosity to rank 157 countries.

Syria, a conflict hotbed ravaged by a years-long civil war and ISIS terrorists, was the second-least happy country followed by Togo, Afghanistan and Benin.
