Google Maps search for anti-national takes you to JNU

Its unfortunate that Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is in news for wrong reasons currently. Its embarassing after knowing that Google Maps is showing up Jawaharlal Nehru University in search results if one searches for the word "Anti-national" or "sedition"

Cyber law expert Pawan Duggal said, "It is a mistake of computer networks and is an unintentional blunder."

Google India told that they are aware of this google issue and they are working to fix it. Google spokesperson said that some inappropriate results are surfacing in google maps and that should not be, and that they apologise for any offence this may have caused.

The similar incident happened in the USA last year when some vandals edited Google Maps to show up White House in results if someone searched Nigger House in the App. Linking current issue to that, some vandals might have given links to JNU to certain keyword on the Google Mapmaker tool.

PS: Jawaharlal Nehru University Union President Kanhaiya Kumar and other students like Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattachary were present at the event at campus on Feb 9th where Anti-national slogans were raised. All 3 of them got bail after proving the videos were doctored.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi is a public central university in New Delhi, the capital of India and is also one of the top universities in the country, ranked second in  India by India Today Magazine in 2010. In 2012 The National Assessment and Accreditation Council gave the university a grade of 3.9 out of 4, the highest grade awarded to any educational institution in the country.
