The recent earthquake in Nepal has left everyone of us in distress and with lot of questions on mind. The Indian Government has released list of 38 Indian cities that are considered as earthquake prone areas.
Delhi - the capital city of India
Mumbai - India's major economy is from this place
Kolkata - One of Indias metro cities and capital of West Bengal
Agra - City where Taj Mahal is built and symbol of love
SriNagar - beautiful city in Kashmir
Other cities include Chennai, Guwahati, Vijayawada surroundings, HP, UP, Punjab and Bihar.
It is said that in the last 25 yrs, India suffered earthquake with max magnitude 6.4 while in the last 115 yrs, it was max 8 magnitude. Designs prescribing standards in construction of buildings were released in 1962 such that they can withstand the quakes. In 2006, there were few more changes to the original designs. However, its said that many constructions go unchecked and people are not following these standards. This carelessness will surely land us all in trouble one day.

After the Bhuj incident in Gujarat, the government there started rebuilding the buildings as per the prescribed standards. Lets just hope people will start constructing as per prescribed standards.
